Watkins leads Villa’s continued charge to Champions League

Aston Villa 3-1 Bournemouth

Ella Smetana reports from Villa Park

A momentous Aston Villa kept a firm grip on fourth spot in the Premier League with Ollie Watkins’ ultimate playmaker performance being the difference against Bournemouth.

Despite going 1-0 down, Villa were patient and were rewarded on the brink of half-time through the sublime individualism of Morgan Rogers who drew the Villains level.

It was the excellence of Watkins to create the second and third goal for Villa, putting both goals on a plate for Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey, taking him to 29 goal contributions this season in the Premier League.

Aston Villa managed to secure their third win in the last seven days, with two Premier League victories and a spot in the semi final of the Europa Conference League secured.
