Nuno bemoans set-piece fragility

Ronnie Langhorne reports from The City Ground.

Nottingham Forest boss, Nuno Espirito Santo says his side’s defensive performance was “very frustrating”, after conceding a 22nd goal from set pieces in 33 games.

The former Wolves boss had to settle for a point against his former employers, following Matheus Cunha’s equaliser just after the hour.

Despite the Brazilian scoring twice on his return to the Wolves side, it was Morgan Gibbs-White who stole the headlines after doing his signature celebration in front of the Wolves faithful.

Nuno was left frustrated as his side could not find a winner, however, he was impressed by the reds’ performance offensively.

He said: “It’s very frustrating for me, for the fans [and] for the players. It’s a missed opportunity.”

Forest’s set piece woes continued in the Premier League against the league’s third most efficient side in offensive areas.

The Portuguese manager was again left disappointed with this.

He said: “We have to look at all of them in a realistic way. Today the organisation was good. We should have done better individually.”

Wolves boss Gary O’Neil believes the outcome was a fair result, despite Nuno’s claims Forest did enough to win the game.

The Englishman said: “[It was a] good game. Two sides going at it. Probably a fair result.

“We Showed great character to find our way back into it. It would’ve been easy there to feel sorry for ourselves.”

Despite being a former Wolves player, O’Neil was quick to insist that the celebrations of the young midfielder doesn’t affect him.

He said: “Morgan can do whatever he wants, it’s none of my concern.”

The Wolves boss also confirmed that Algerian full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri travelled with the squad to Nottingham but was yesterday ruled out of today’s game.

Ahead of next Saturday’s game against Arsenal, Wolves defender Craig Dawson may require groin surgery.
